Odd Quest is a mobile application that allows users to explore and tour New York City's haunts and legends. Users choose a quest (either nearby or search a specific area) and travel to different locations on the map. As users arrive to locations, information is unlocked in the app providing audio recordings and videos about the legends.
How might an adventurist interested in quirky and spooky local history take a self-guided tour of New York City at their leisure?

Solution: Utilizing mobile technology, we developed a prototype that allows users to explore New York City's haunts at their own pace. Users can travel individually or in groups to various locations to experience the historical haunts. Tours are broken-down into "quests" that highlight a particular interest (ghosts, paranormal activity, urban legends, etc.) and users are guided to locations using GPS. Upon arrival at a site where an oddity occurred, associated media is unlocked for the adventurist to learn more about the legend and engage in the space.
